Tropes used in Big Rigs Over the Road Racing include: Artificial Stupidity: Averted, as there is no AI at all. If you download the patch, the opponent rig will move.and then stop short of the finish line because there is no code for what happens when you lose a race.

Big Rigs Over The Road Racing Review
- Award Snub: Was nominated for 'Worst Game of the Decade', but lost to Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). While the latter game was definitely bad, it was nowhere near as broken as Big Rigs, although it is debatable whether or not Big Rigs can actually be considered a 'video game'.
- Bile Fascination: Arguably the only reason it sold as well as it did.
- Crazy Awesome: Maybe the most-unintentional example in history. These 18-wheelers can evidently phase through solid matter, defy gravity, and reverse faster than light.
- Ear Worm: The game comes with some surprisingly catchy music made by an unknown composer...although whether it plays when you run the game seems to depend on luck.
- 'Funny Aneurysm' Moment: When Big Rigs was first released, people were captivated by just how amazingly broken the game was, it became an instant classic for all the wrong reasons. With the introduction of the Steam Greenlight program (and its successor: Steam Direct), broken games such as this are now a dime a dozen, literally. Steam's storefront has gotten so overwhelmed with broken, barely-functionalnote 'games' that any real, worthwhile games get buried within a day or two, particularly indie games. It got so bad that indie developers started to turn their backs on the service, opting instead for other platforms such as the Nintendo Switch with their 'Nindies' program.
- Good Bad Bugs: They're not bugs, they're features! For example, the rigs have no maximum speed when driving in reverse. Occasionally, the game will declare you WINNER! as soon as the race begins.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: As AVGN shows, when the game crashes on Windows 7 and beyond, the error message says 'CarZ.exe has stopped working'. The War Znote must have been hinted at for years!
- It was even made by the same person! (well, one of them)
- I Liked It Better When It Sucked: Or, more accurately, sucked more. The patches take away iconic aspects of the game while doing nothing to actually improve it. The AI cars now move, but don't cross the finish line, and 'YOU'RE WINNER' is replaced with 'YOU WIN!'
- Memetic Badass: The trucks themselves. As this Reddit thread put it:'At this truck's speed, it could move 18.3 trillion kilometers in 1/10th of an attosecond. 18.3 trillion kilometers before the flash could even register that it moved. Imagine if I could move so fast that I could walk to Pluto and back 1,000 times before you even registered that I had moved. That's what this truck can do to the Flash. All this is to say that the truck would generate enough force to obliterate the universe, and probably the multiverse.
- Memetic Loser: The opponent truck. You literallycannot lose to it.Ever. Oh, you installed the patch to make it move? It will still stop short of the finish line. You found a way to make it cross the finish line, you say? The game crashes because there is no programmed failure state for the player losing a race. Well, at least Glass Joetries to win.
- Memetic Mutation: 'You're Winner !'
- No Such Thing as Bad Publicity: Has the lowest ranking ever on both Metacritic and Game Rankings, yet still managed to sell nearly 20,000 copies. Undoubtedly, most of these sales were exactly because of the 'worst game ever' reviews. To elaborate on the bad reviews, the only reason the game has a higher than 0% rating is that some sites' lowest rankings appear as non-zeros on Metacritic. The lowest possible score actually brought the average up. GameSpot was appalled that Big Rigs outsold most of the Acclaimed Flop games of their 'Best Game No One Played' category.
- Signature Scene: Going hand in hand with Signature Line, the 'YOU'RE WINNER !' screen with its infamous three-handled trophy.
- So Bad, It's Good: So awful it's almost too funny to be in the horrible section. The game pioneered innovative gameplay features such as an opponent who never moved (if you get the patch he moves very slowly but never crosses the finish line), the ability to randomly go through scenery (or fall through the level), a track that crashed the game when loaded, the ability to accelerate backwards infinitely, climb the steepest mountains with almost no loss of speed and go outside the level's boundary. As a result, the game's ending sequence◊ is easily the best part of the game. The GameFAQs board is a joke board devoted solely to BEING WINNER and declaring this game WINNERnote ! Even The Angry Video Game Nerd himself thinks that having a game that essentially has no rules like Big Rigs is ridiculously fun.
